Orebed Brook
More info
This is one of my favorite photgraphs because of the unusual palette of nature’s colors, the reds in the lower right recognizable as iron ore, the green of the mosses and the iridescent blue of the mineral, Labradorite. This print is available in four sizes.
Marion River Lily Pads
I was fascinated by all of the “stuff” on the lily pads in late August. At first I thought that it was frogs’ eggs, but I later learned that it was probably bird guano that has decorated all of the pads. This signed photograph is available in four sizes.
Little Cherry Patch Pond with Yellow Lilies
I have been going to Little Cherrypatch pond since I was a boy and have photographed it many times, but have never seen the pond in more perfect form than this bright, warm day in late August of 2003. Signed photograph available in four sizes.
Hanging Spear Falls
This falls on the Feldspar Creek is perhaps only 500 feet below Lake Tear in the Clouds, making it the highest waterfalls in The Adirondacks. Although deep in the wilderness, it was a spot that 19th century artists almost always went to.
GlasbyPond
This photograph was made just south of Glasby Pond where the forest is in the process of giving way to wetland. This signed print is available in four sizes.
From Shoulder of Giant
This photograph is looking out over the Chapel Pond Pass with Round Mountain in the foreground. Sitting on a lower shoulder of Giant in the middle of the photograph is the small pond known as The Washbowl. This signed print is available in four sizes.
Follensby Pond Outlet
Site of the famous philosophers encampment of Emerson and his pals, this outlet of the pond has the largest profusion of pickrell weed that I have ever seen. This signed print is available in four sizes.
Chapple Pond with Green Ice
It is said that Chapel Pond is the most photographed pond in North America. In spite of that I have never been able to resist making exposures here. In this photograph the pond and its surrounding are encrusted with ice. The green ice is formed on the top of the thick ice when there is a midwinter thaw and the rivers run green from plankton and minerals. The water flows out over the main body of ice refrezes giving it the green color. This ultrachrome print is available in four sizes.
Brown's Track Inlet
This photograph taken in the inlet that connects the Fulton Chain to Raquette River. Murray descibes the inlet as one of the lovelies pieces of water in The Adirondacks. The Pitcher Plants in this picture are at the fullness of their bloom.
